I am sure I will visit Babys again to try out the many different items on the menu. If you were not particularly hungry they have very cheap “whimpy” burgers. The menu was very extensive having all kinds of burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, salads, soups and other dishes. The service was quick and the waiter was very friendly. One could easily go in and get a good meal for under $8. Overall I really enjoyed eating at Babys and only spent $12, but I ordered a $4 milkshake and fish. The fries were excellent and the fish was very good considering it only cost $8, so by very good I mean I couldn’t imagine getting much better for the price. CABAL CONSENSUS The cheeseburger is still a fixture at Fuller’s Coffee Shop in the Pearl, an icon and relic of Drugstore Cowboy Portland. I had two large pieces of fish and a good amount of fries. DEETS 4-ounce patty, lettuce, tomato, crinkle-cut pickles, sweet onions, secret sauce, American cheese, Franz sesame bun. The food came out very quickly and I was a bit overwhelmed by the enormous portion sizes. We had to wait a little while for our milkshakes but they were definitely worth the wait, they clearly used a lot of real ice cream and they were delicious and refreshing. I ordered a chocolate milkshake and fish and chips, my roommate ordered an Oreo milkshake and chicken tenders. It was pretty busy when we walked in so we decided to sit at the front counter/bar instead of waiting for a table. I had walked by it many times and was eager to try it out. Located at 131 South Garner Street just down from Mclanahan’s. My roommate and I had missed the Rediffer brunch so decided to try out a diner just down the street, Babys Burgers and Shakes. Here’s how he held up.Last Saturday I woke up at about 2pm and managed to pull myself out of bed.

Over the phone, on a cold call, I subjected the genial Jarvis to rapid-fire questions about his smash burger details and philosophy. Now, Jarvis and Wilcenski are test-driving Portland as a possible permanent home. But he went up to Seattle during the pandemic, and the duo reunited with a new model, the Rough Draft Burger Shop, turning their love of burgers into another successful pop-up and possibly a future.
