Again no further explanation, no documentation, nothing I can see. Now that our Arch Linux install is properly setup up for a VNC connection, we can setup the connection. NOTE: The setup is not implementing any VNC encryption so SSH will be used to establish the connection. This document is a real-world implementation of the document(s) found at Archlinux Wiki - TigerVNC. TigerVNC is a fork that is supported by the standard Arch Linux repositories. VNC is a protocol where you use your keyboard/mouse/screen an mouse to monitor or control a remote system. Vncsession seems to have replaced vncserver but doesn't work either, sudo vncsession gets the message "Failure daemonizing". It would seem that TightVNC isnt part of the official repositories any more.

I don't use XDM or anything requiring an Xsession script, and I've never needed the script there, do I really need it now or is vncserver just plain no longer supported? I looked into the perl script, apparently it's because I don't have either Xsession entries in /etc/X11. Vncserver returns an error "Couldn't find suitable Xsession". A couple years back I set up an XRDP server on one of our RHEL 6 timeshare hosts for general desktop use by a few Windows users who wanted a RHEL GUI desktop on rare occasions.

Always been solid and reliable.Īfter the latest upgrade to 1.11 I can't get TigerVNC to work at all. I've been using TigerVNC on Arch for years.
